Additional Details

Probable Second Edition. Morrison signed the contract with the state on 09 July 1816 to prepare the map of Huntingdon County. He delivered his manuscript map to Melish on 03 April 1817 and received $550. Melish would have had a few years to publish the map under his own name before his death in 1822. However, no copy of a Melish imprint of this map is known, if indeed it was ever issued. The attribution of the 1830 publication date is based on two similar maps of Pennsylvania counties offered in this sale, both published by Tanner and both with 1830 imprints. Accompanied by a binder containing photocopies of Morrison's contract for the production of the map, as well as other documents relating to the map.
